§ Session members met with
and approved membership for eight Confirmands
§ Individuals interested
in membership at Trinity will participate in Inquiries Classes April

§ Property Committee
proceeding with repairs and replacement of basement flooring
§ New bulletin format was
positively received and content is continually added to Trinity’s
website
§ Trinity has been
officially designed as a tornado shelter for our neighborhood
§ Congregation will be
encouraged to write letters in support of Bread for the World
efforts on June 15
§ Pentecost offering will
be held May 11 with 40% designated to the Latchkey program
§ During worship on April
27th, third graders will receive a Bible and teachers will be
recognized
§ Bernard Meyer died
03-19-08. Service at Mt. Hope Chapel - Pastor Shelley
officiated.
§ Dorothy L. Miller died

SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—March, 2007

§ Connie Hubbell reported
on the January 19 Presbytery meeting. Clare Higgins was elected
Alternate Youth Advisor, and Trinity was recognized for achieving
the second highest average mission giving per member.
§ A called Session meeting
to examine confirmands in preparation for receiving them into
membership will be held Sunday, April 13, 9:30 am.
§ Zarif Botros will serve
as Trinity’s stated commissioner at the April 19 Presbytery meeting.
§ The Session approved
communion to be served June 15, July 20 and August 17.
§ The 2007 Session records
were reviewed on March 1 and approved without exception.
§ Pat Jackson has accepted
a CPE internship this summer in Kansas City.
§ Shenanigans Fun and
Games afternoon is scheduled April 5. VIDA will be invited to
attend.
§ Motion approved to allow
Youth Council to organize a fundraiser to support this summer’s
youth mission tip to Denver.
SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—February, 2007

§ Connie Hubbell reported
on the January 19, 2008 Presbytery meeting. Clare Higgins was
elected Alternate Youth Advisor, and Trinity was recognized for
achieving the second highest average mission giving per member.
§ Pastor Shelley
challenged elders to consider how they practice hospitality within
the church. The session adopted the goal of emphasizing hospitality
during 2008.
§ A mission trip to
Greensburg, Kansas was held February 15-18. Trinity was represented
by Chuck Linn, Stan McAdoo, Kelly Hamilton and Randall Scott.
§ Trinity’s youth will
participate in a mission trip to Denver the week of July 13, 2008
§ Deacon representative,
Peggy McAdoo, reminded session members to call Trinity’s members
shut in due to winter weather.
§ Easter egg event
scheduled for March 9 with VIDA invited to participate
§ Shenanigan’s fun and
games night will be held Saturday, April 5th from 2-5 pm.
§ The 3 month
update/reviews were completed for Carmen Raines and Debbie Packard
with high marks received.
SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—January, 2007

· Pastor
Shelley thanked the outgoing members of Session for their
dedicated service: Greg Lee, Connie Hubbell, David Ross, Cory
Schoffelman, and Von Unruh.
· The
Endowment Committee announced the 2008 grant recipients for
Trinity’s endowment funds. A total of $920.68 will go to each
of three Session Committees responsible for the following three
projects: (1) Replacement of the south exterior door, (2)
Development of a Disaster Rapid Response Team called FAST and
(3) Assistance with the construction of a new school in Nuevo
Calvario, El Salvador.
· As
of January 16, 2008, Trinity has received 99% of the 2007
pledges.
· Holy
Communion was celebrated three times since the December Session
Meeting (December 24, 2007 and January 6 & 12, 2008).
· Boy
Scout Troop 172 will hold a “Trinity Appreciation” pancake feed
following the 10:30 worship service on Boy Scout Sunday,
February 3.
· A
“Celebration of Life” memorial service was held for Trinity
member Mary Lou Markey on January 15.
· A
motion was approved to implement the 2007 (#2) rewrite of the
“Receipt of Monetary Gift Policy.”
SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—December, 2007

· As of December 19, 2007,
Trinity has received 95% of the 2007 pledges.
· Staff evaluations have
been completed and every Trinity staff member received high marks on
their evaluation.
· Rosetta Casselle has been
hired to fill in for Asha when she is gone during a part of the
afternoon hours for the months of January and February.
· The Personnel Committee
continues to study the financial feasibility of calling an associate
pastor but is not ready to make a recommendation at this time.
· Approval was given to the
Peacemaking Committee to send a grant application to the Presbytery
for assistance in “Building a Faith Community in Nuevo Calvario, El
Salvador.”
· The following motion,
made jointly by the Worship and Christian Education Committees, was
approved: “For the months of June, July, and August, 2008, Trinity
Presbyterian Church will have one worship service from 9:00 a.m. to
10:00 a.m. followed by summer Sunday school from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m.”
· Boy Scout Troop 172 will
soon be showing their appreciation to Trinity for letting them hold
their meetings at the church.
· As of December 19, 2007,
two applications have been received for the Trinity Endowment Funds.
SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—November, 2007

Representatives from Presbytery
(Rev. Bill Woodard and Alan Reynolds) were present to conduct
Trinity’s Triennial Visit. Session members responded to
questions relating to Trinity’s strengths, challenges, and
vision for the future.

Motion was approved to receive
Maurine Allen, and Ed & Carmen Raines into membership.

Trinity’s Membership Rolls were
updated.
-
Motion was passed to approve the
budget as proposed by the Finance Committee for a 2008 budget of
$485,206.40 which would be a budget deficit of $34,413.40.

Motion was approved to celebrate
Holy Communion on the following dates in 2008 (January-May):
January 6, February 10, March 20, April 6, and May 4.

Motion was approved to concur
with the Nominating Committee’s recommendation to reduce the
number of Session members (according to Trinity’s by-laws) from
18 to 15 members. The proposed change will be voted upon by the
Congregation at the January 20, 2008 Annual Meeting.

A 2008 Endowment Application
Form is now available. Applications for funding must be
submitted through a Session Committee. Under the terms of the
endowment, Trinity will be distributing funds in each of the
following categories:
1. $920.68 for facilities
maintenance, expansion, or improvement
(including furnishings);
2. $920.68 to supplement
mission funding by Trinity, either locally or other wise;
3. $920.68 to fund new programs
of Trinity for a maximum of five years, after
which said programs shall be
supported by the general budget of Trinity
or discontinued.
SESSION HIGHLIGHTS—October, 2007

Pastor
Shelley reported that she and Ken Cott will be traveling to El
Salvador on October 23 where they will serve as PCUSA Commission
Representatives. She will lead the conference attendees in
Bible study on healing and reconciliation.

Pledge
cards were received from church leadership (current Session
Elders & Deacons) during the October 14 church service. Their
total 2008 pledges, when averaged, was 12.8% greater than their
2007 pledges.

It was
announced that Hiram Powell is Trinity’s new Boy Scout Leader.
Hiram replaces recently retired Chuck Forman.

classes are scheduled for November 4th and 11th

Pastor
Shelley presented the following dates that should be put on
everyone’s calendar:
· Monday, December 31, 2007
– Annual reports from Committees due into the office.
· Saturday, January 19,
2008 – Officer Training (All Elders & Deacons, both currently
serving and those coming on board).
