Sunday Afternoon Worship
at Presbyterian Manor
Arrive at 3:30 p.m. Enter at the Nunemaker Caring
Center. You will need to push the silver button on the wall since there is
no receptionist to open the door.
Ask for the Sunday afternoon Worship
Center and Deanna Stiner. She is the activities coordinator on duty each
Sunday afternoon. Jeane Bird is the activities coordinator who is in charge
of all activities.
There will be approximately 30
residents in attendance. The worship service starts at 3:45 and should end
at approximately 4:15 p.m. as the residents go to dinner at this time. Most
like to sing patriotic and familiar hymns. It works well to sing 3 hymns,
read scripture, devotional, and a prayer. Please use a microphone.
Presbyterian Manor has a microphone that they will give you and the
residents prefer that you use it so that they can hear you reading the
scripture, etc. Then to end the worship service, ask residents for
suggestions for hymns.
Please try to visit with the
residents before and after worship. They seem to enjoy repeating verses of
the hymns once they have sung them.
When leaving the Nunemaker Center,
you must push the following code on the key pad just before you exit. There
is a code that you must get from Jan, Von, or a staff member. If you do not
push the code, an alarm will sound.
On June 5, 2005, Jan Allen and Galen
and Von Unruh conducted the Worship Service. The residents were alert,
talked to us, sang with us, and told us that we should return. It was a fun
and meaningful afternoon. We will continue to try to get youth involved
each time. A big thank you to Jan for playing the piano and Galen for
helping us with scripture reading at this worship service. It was good to
sing hymns that we hadn’t sung for a long time. |
